Assignment #3:  Due Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Here is an essay by Thomas Di Lorenzo titled "The Truth About Robber Barrons" from his book How Capitalism Saved America.  This article is a little long.  I still want you to read it.  I will give you two days--not two school days, but two calendar days--to finish it.  Take notes on it, maybe paragraph by paragraph.  Once you finish the article, then write the 4-paragraph review using the prescribed format in the left-hand column of this page.

Assignment #4:  Due Today.
Imagine that you have a child, a 3-year-old boy.  Let's call him Gabriel.  As a parent, you've worked hard to provide for your son, for your wife, and yourself.  You've achieved good results at your work and are beginning to be recognized by your peers and colleagues.  This recognition makes you think about what kind of a legacy you want to leave for your son, what kind of future you want for your son.  You can leave your son money, property, stocks, business skills, or a profitable business or two.  But you get to decide.  Your son will carry on your name, your talents, and will work to represent you in the world.

1.  What would you like to see your son have?
2.  How would you like to see your son conduct himself?
3.  What would you like your son to be known for?
4.  What would you like to see your son do as an adult?

Assignment #5:
Ephesians 6.2 from the Bible says "Honor Thy Mother and Father."  And though we know that we should honor our parents, we know, too, that our actions are not always honorable, particularly in how they reflect on our mother and our father.  My question to you is what do you do on a daily basis to honor your mother and honor your father?  You may state your disappointments with them along with your disagreements, but understand that they love you dearly even though they may not be able to articulate that love.  What can you do through your actions, through your deeds that will honor their name, honor their legacy, honor their memory?  For you, what are the handful of actions or accomplishments that you can achieve that would best honor your parents?
